Coastal Andalusian News

February 24, 2008
Hello Everyone!

Wow, it has been so long since I wrote about Coastal Andalusian's news. Tornado BV came to us on Thanksgiving Day 2007. He really is a youngster, but Patti has been working with him and he is becoming more managable. She had to get him to think with his feet and his head. He looked like a gangly thoroughbred, but now at almost 20 months, he is beginning to fill out.

Jugador is magnificent. What a quiet spirit he is. We are looking forward to breeding him to Galena G, "GHOST" , and Careta this year. Speaking of Careta, she delivered a beautiful dark filly on January 31st. We will have her dna tested for color. If she is truly black, we will retain her for our breeding program. She is robust yet refined. Her rump is well rounded and powerful already.

We are awaiting the arrival of "Ghost's" foal mid April. Then she will be bred to Jugador. This year we will also be breeding Daifa H and Feminista to Mediterraneo V, the 2007 Grand National Champion Stallion. How exciting will next year be!

Stay tuned and happy trails always on an Andalusian!

Well, Coastal Andalusians just bought NINO JUGADOR!! We are proud to announce that Nino Jugador will be coming to his new home October 27, 2007. We now will have this magnificent grey for our breeding program. Nino Jugador's grandsires are inscribed in Spain.

Joining us in mid-November from Bravata Andalusians will be our black stallion, Tornado BV, who is inscribed with the PRE and up for revision.

I cannot express the good fortune I feel adding these fine stallions to our breeding program.

Happy Trails Always on an Andalusian.

During the last weekend in September, I once again flew down to San Diego to visit my good friends Leigh and Jim. They had purchased a box for the Del Mar Jumpers Show for Saturday night. During the day, though, I visited over a dozen Andalusian stallions for sale. My goal was to find a black stallion for our breeding program. What caught my eye though was this 5 year old dark grey dappled stallion. I was in awe of him as I watched him do the spanish walk and piaffe in just a halter and lead rope. Patti, my business partner, could not attend, so I asked for a dvd to be made. We received the dvd of NINO JUGADOR within days. Well, Patti fell in love with him also.

We are negotiating with his owner to purchase NINO JUGADOR. Meanwhile, we just purchased TORNADO BV, a 16 month old, pure black Escalera stallion from Bravata Andalusians in Ritchfield, Ohio. TORNADO BV will be standing at stud in Spring of 2009.

If we purchase NINO JUGADOR, he will be standing at stud here at Coastal Andalusians in the Spring of 2008.

Stay tuned!

After meeting Moe Gutierrez at last month's Del Mar Horse Show, and seeing her fabulous stallion, Mediterraneo V, (or Metro as Moe calls him), I fell in love with him. My vet, trainer and myself spent an afternoon looking at Coastal Andalusian's mares then choosing three which would compliment Metro.

In 2008, Patti, my business partner, and I will be breeding Galena, Kara and Feminista, (reference our Mare Page) to this beautiful stallion. Please visit his website at gutierrezandalusians.com. He has collected quite a few titles so far. Moe will be taking him to Nationals this fall. He will be hard to beat! I will be flying down there the last weekend in September to meet up with Moe at her place in Hemet. She has graciously invited me to watch him 'freestyle'

I can hardly wait!

Stay tuned.

Hi everyone!

Well, we had a great time down at Del Mar Andalusian horse show last weekend. It was a two day event showcasing Andalusians.

Our freind Leigh suggested we sponsor the Heritage Class which was the last event of Saturday's show. Prior to that happening we were able to meet and talk with a woman we feel could be our trainer/rider for next year when we actually show some of our Andalusians.

As I was watching the last event I met Nadine Tilley, of Tilley Andalusians. She remembered one of our mares, DAIFA H, when she was owned by Terri Meador of Herradura Andalusians. Her eyes lit up and was able to remember every class DAIFA H won. So of course, that got us talking about Terri. So many great stories!

The Heritage Class featured Mo Gutierrez in full Spanish outfit, sterling silver saddle, on her incredible stallion Mediterreneo V. Since Coastal Andalusians sponsored that class, after it was all done I went up for picture taking time and got talking to her!

Leigh, Patti and I went back to Nadine's barn area and Mo's. I believe we found our future 'daddies' for our 2009 crop, not to forget Terri's CHULO in 2009. We will have three CHULO babies next year.

Well, one thing followed another and we were invited to have cheese and wine in the show tent afterwards. Business cards were exchanged. Of course, ours were dvds that we all worked so very hard to put together for the show. One dvd is of Cait's beautiful photos of the Andalusians, and the other video disc was created by Ian Jones who is only 10!!! The Jones' Family purchased GIALINA from us, and will be boarding her at Renegade.

So all in all, the short 70 hours we were down in San Diego last weekend changed our course of thinking a little. Patti and I both feel in order to get exposure we need to show. Of course, I was hoping to do that in 3 years after I retired from the Sheriff's Office, but we can't wait.

Our website is up and running: coastalandalusians.com. So visit it. Who knows, an Andalusian could be in your future!

Happy Trails,
Deb
